Atheer Platform, the digital arm of Al Jazeera, entrusted Epicstudios with the production of an episode of its renowned podcast “Zaou El Shaan”, hosted by the esteemed Khadidja Ben Guenna. With Al Jazeera’s industry-leading technical standards, we were tasked with delivering a cinematic, multi-camera production using cinema cameras, fast prime lenses, and professional lighting to achieve a rich, contrasty, and layered visual aesthetic.

Project Objectives:
The project encompassed the following key aspects:
• Deliver a high-end cinematic production meeting Al Jazeera’s demanding technical standards.
• Secure a prestigious and visually compelling location that enhances the production’s aesthetic appeal.
• Assemble a top-tier crew to execute a multi-camera shoot with precise lighting and sound design.
• Ensure smooth coordination and execution, addressing any challenges with flexibility and professionalism.
• Enhance the guest and host experience, from technical execution to catering and overall production support.
• Learn from production challenges, including refining communication channels to prevent logistical oversights.
Project Scope
Pre-Production:
• Collaborated with Atheer’s team to understand their technical and aesthetic requirements.
• Proposed several locations adapted to Atheer's team expectations.
• Carefully planned a four-camera setup, including:
• Two cameras on the guest
• One camera on the host
• A fourth Behind The Scenes camera for additional footage
• Assembled a specialized crew including:
• 3 cameraman
• Sound Engineer
• Makeup artist
• DOP
Production:
• Executed a multi-camera shoot with cinematic lighting to achieve the desired contrast and depth.
• Maintained high-quality audio recording, ensuring crystal-clear sound.
• Managed the set with efficiency and attention to detail, led by Ayoub Redouane.
• Overcame a last-minute teleprompter request issue, adjusting on-site to minimize disruption.
Post-Production & Delivery:
• Delivered high-fidelity Log Gamma footage, ensuring flexibility for Atheer’s in-house color grading and post-production.
• Provided a flawlessly executed shoot, with all necessary assets ready for editing.
• Ensured client satisfaction, with both Khadidja Ben Guenna and the guest praising the production quality and catering service.
Lessons Learned:
• Clear communication on last-minute requests is crucial—our team has since implemented stricter follow-up measures for additional client requirements.
• Having a teleprompter on standby for high-profile productions is now a standard practice.
• A meticulously prepared crew and setup allow for swift adaptability to unforeseen challenges.
• Going beyond technical execution—such as offering premium catering—enhances client experience and strengthens relationships.
